Jared/Jon 7 - Jared Ponders Image Jared Thoughts I think it has been a while since my last spiel about anything so its about time you guys heard some more words from Jared: I have recently thinking about how people get dressed up for fun or protection. I myself used to do so dressing up as Morpheus as you guys put itand it was fun to go as such. However, the scary thing, now that I think back upon it, was how little of me got through while I was wearing those clothes, I found it very easy to hide behind those dark glasses and found myself acting very aloof. "The clothes make the man" it is said I never knew how true that was; I dressed Gothic so I was able to act Gothic. I think that people do wear clothes that alter them for it is far easier to hide behind the facade of a Goth and then if people don't like you it's not you that they don't like but the opposite is also true that if they like you then it isn't you that they like. Its so easy to feel safe from rejection this way but it also means that you are shutting yourself off from finding people who truely love you as a friend, boy/girlfriend, etc.. I'm not here just talking about Goths here its just that they are an extreme example of it. You also see it in all areas of life, the "jocks" all dressed in their sports jersey etc, the "stoners" all dressed the same, the "skaties" all dressed the same. Long haired Uni students who drink coffee are instantly chain-smokers. You can see it also in the "business" world how likely is it for a "suit" to meet with a non-"suit" for lunch or any activity while there is the slightest chance that one of their colleagues could see them together, oh horror of horrors (I'm talking about during office hours for after work it is harder to tell a "suit" from a non-"suit"). Now this has lead me unsuprisingly to the topic of judgement. How easy is it to judge a person on their attire? You see a girl walking down the street wearing certain clothes and you immediately draw the conclusion she's a skank without talking to her at all you already have labelled and judged her. Then since none but the skanks will approach her to fit in she becomes a skank. You see a kid on the street wearing skatie attire (no offence intended Dan) and you automatically assume he's on something; labelled and judged. The list goes on and on, I'm guilty of it and its something I'm trying to fix and I'm guessing the same probably goes for you. My point is not judgement of others though but rather others judgement of us, if you dress as a Goth then don't be suprised if you are treated like one etc.. I don't think I have a point here (yet) but its just something to get you thinking about how we should dress and act so the world sees Christ on earth once more God bless Jared May-trix In reply to that Jon Writes Thats some interesting thoughts, that I too have pondered over a few times as well. You see, we all have filters in our heads that determine how we view things, and the more we have, the more we judge. We have to try to remove as many of these as possible in order to be a "Good" person, in order to accept everyone. An example would be Mike Dodgy's story about the smokers that were denied access into the Services because some others thought they were better than them. If they saw them as People insted of smokers there would be no problims, and quite possibly more christians. I would write more, But I just got back, and are Tired, and have 74 messages to read so... Chow Jared's Reply If we just saw Jesus instead of smokers, delinquents, homeless, thieves etc. think on how different the world would be (see Matthew 25:31-40). "If they saw them as People insted of smokers there would be no problems, and quite possibly more christians." |
