Jared/Jon 5 - Talking about Praise, and praising oneself and what a Good Christian is Jon Shares another Verse I Signed up to all the things on that site that Any sent round. Heres one message I got from the Daily WIsdom thingie, I really like that service thing. -/\/\----------------------------------------------------------------- \ / DAILY WISDOM from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/ --\/------------------------------------------------------------------ When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future. And a Reply, from Jared So true. When times are good man tends to praise himself though he has as much control over circumstances which led to the good times as I do over the outcome of a rugby match. Yet when times are bad man tends to blame it on others (if he is a Christian) or to blame God but if he praises himself when times are good because he made all the right choices should he not also blame himself when times are bad. Man also tends to also turn to God during the rough patches but forget him when times are good for what need of God does he have when they are such. But man needs God all the time for without him nothing is possible but with him nothing is impossible. God bless, Jared May-trix And Jon's Reply Also, when "Man" is in a good spot, when hes a "Good" christian, he thanks God for getting him to where he is... Isn't that also Right?? Also, in a rough patch, arn't we more likly to ask for help, insted of thanking him for everything, but still Talk to him, and not blame him but ask if he can help us get out of it. A bad patch is still part of His plan is it not?? Anyways, thanks for the thoughts.. Jon Jared's thoughts on that Yes, but the problem is that there are very few truely good Christians, I would be speaking through my arse if I said I am one of them. Most Christians whether they realise it or not are more likely to praise themselves over God I know that I generally do until I think 'Whoa God did this and gave me that I should thank him.' The Christian still comes from this world and it is so easy to stay in the ways of the world keeping habits which you ignore over the larger, but is it not said (somewhere) that its not only the large sins that God loathes but also the 100's of small ones which most people forget or think God won't care about that its so small. But God does care he said be perfect as I am perfect therefore if we forget the small sins then we may as well forget the large ones as well. It is so easy also to blame God for he is not under your control unlike the circumstances that led to the bad patch. It takes time generally for us to turn to God and say I can't do this by myself. Man is a prideful creature we have had centuries of practise at it and it takes a long time to break any habit and one of the most major habits we have learnt is to rely on ourselves rather than on God and we want to fix things by ourselves rather than admit we can't hack it. I would hesitate to say a bad patch is part of his plan for we must remember that at this moment this world has two masters who both have power in it. It may not be part of His plan but He is so much more powerful than the devil that anything done by him can be turned for His purposes. God bless, Jared May-trix Jon Adds More Ahhh fair enough. I'm going to be cocky right now, and claim that for at least the last week I have been as much of a "Ture Christian" as possible. I have brought basically Everything to him, and I have felt him in me, and even though this has been my busyist Week EVER, It feels like the easyist Stress free week ever (Even done tones of tests that I really thought I would fail, but after them felt confordent that passed etc..). Also regarding the Study I'm doing at school, a few nights ago I felt him telling me to change our topic (As we havn't really gotten into it yet) and so we have, and it was great!! Sure I'm not claiming to be perfact, but I'm trying to be the best I can be kinda thing. Last week was also Hectic, but Insted of saying why have you done this to me, I said please help me with this. A good christian Can't be perfact, but they can be a good christian Cheers Jon And he (Yet again) adds a little more to this If you want to answer, Do you consider yourself a "Good" Christian at the Moment?? Cause its a very powerful question really. You know that verse about cutting off your leg if it causes you to stumble... I love that verse. Cheers Again Jimmyiny Cricket And Jareds reply to that one By your definition I believe I am, I try hard not to let habits get the better of me and to try to break them when I know that they are wrong, but I know also that I will trip up but just so long as I admit it to God (which it sometimes is as hard to do as admit to another person) I know that God will forgive and forget and I can continue to grow in him and learn from experience. My definition of a good Christian is an impossible standard but it should be one that we try for with all our might, for God does not mind that we do not reach the destination for he knows that it is impossible to achieve but he loves us because we do try to achieve it for him. Its not whether we win or lose but the fact that we tried for it in the first place. God bless, Jared |
